Our History
As many of you know, Katherine and I met in Chicago at the Charleston Bar in Bucktown. At that time, Katherine lived in Bucktown, and I lived in Indianapolis. Katherine worked for NARAS (the Grammy Awards), and I worked for Chief Judge John Sharpnack of the Court of Appeals of Indiana.
In October of 1997, I proposed to Katherine. In March of 1998, we confirmed our engagement. We scheduled a date for September of 1999.
After a year of dating, I convinced Katherine to move to Indianapolis. Katherine began working for the Mental Health Foundation of Indiana. I continued my clerkship. We enjoyed Indy and saved money. You may remember our old email address of LivingIndy.
Late in 1998, Katherine's mother became ill. In the Spring of 1999, we realized the need to move our wedding date forward. We rescheduled for June of 1999. You can see our wedding pages and photos.
We married on June 12, 1999. We enjoyed our honeymoon in Tucson. On June 17, 1999, we learned of Sandy's passing. We returned to Chicago the same day.
In August of 1999, we moved to Connecticut. I began a clerkship with the Honorable Alan H. Nevas. Katherine began working for Yale University. Although I had friends in Connecticut from law school, we met two wonderful people: Jessica Mahlberg and Julian Dobson. We miss them.
In August of 2000, I left Judge Nevas and joined Cummings & Lockwood in September of 2000.
In August of 2001, Katherine and I returned home to Chicago.
In October of 2001, I incorporated Privacy Resolutions P.C. as a professional corporation and began my own law practice. Although I began focusing on privacy law, my practice began to grow and diversify. Today, Law Offices of Charles Lee Mudd Jr. has individual and corporate clients both here in the United States and internationally.
In October of 2001, Katherine and I moved to Chicago from Ogden Dunes, Indiana, where George Bohlin allowed us to stay while we settled back into Chi-town. In October of 2002, we moved to Virginia Avenue alongside the banks of the Chicago River.
In early 2002, I became a member of the Board of Directors for the American Theater Company in Chicago, Illinois. Soon thereafter, the Board elected me President. In 2003, I resigned from the position of President and later resigned from the Board. The ensemble of American Theater Company includes phenomonal actors who I look forward to seeing grow in their profession.
Katherine has been elected a board member of the Greater Rockwell Organization. She also serves as President and CEO of Red Monarch Productions Inc., a company that provides event planning services to individuals and corporations.
We continue to stay busy.
