"The settlement of the estate of James is recorded in the proceeding
of the Charles County, Maryland, County Court session of June, 1803.
This record discloses the names of children who were listed in the
following order: Deborah; Walter; Dennis; Margaret; Pricy; James;
John Martin; Alexander; Vincent; and Tabitha. Records indicate that
they were not named in the order of their birth. The records of
Charles County also show that James "of Peter" and James "of James"
both subscribed to the Oath of Loyalty and Support in 1778. And in
the records of Guardian's Accounts in Charles County for 1808, it is
shown that John Martin and Alexander were wards if Henry Montgomery
and identified as "orphans' of James "of Peter" Carrico. James had
inherited "Carrico Hope" at the death of his mother, under the terms
of the will of his father, Peter.

The census of 1790 of Charles County, Maryland shows James as the
head of a family consisting of one male over 16, three males under
16, five females and three slaves. While it is not possible to make a
positive statement, it is very probable that several of the issue of
James Carrico migrated to Kentucky in the general migration of the
Carrico clan as some of the names are found in early Kentucky
records. For instance, the marriage record books of Nelson County,
Kentucky show the marriage of Alexander Carrico to Fanny Cash on
November 27, 1821.

Marriage records of Deborah (Debby) Carrico and Walter Carrico are
found in Washington County, Kentucky. And records of the marriages of
Dennis Carrico are found in Burks County, Pennsylvania and St. Louis
County, Missouri."

Carrico File 3
Pages 53-58 of "Revolutionary Patriots of Charles County Maryland
1775-1783" by Henry C. Peden, Jr. is filled with members of the
CLEMENTS family. Page 45 has three entries for James CARRICOE: James
of James, James of John, and James, Sr. (all three took Oath of
Allegiance in 1778; James of John and James, Sr. are given as
residents of Bryan Town Hundred in 1778. No mention is made in this
book of an Elizabeth Clements CARRICO.
