Notes for Edward Griswold
January 16, 2000 coralee@isat.com (Coralee Griswold) Mr. Mudd, The problem is as I suspected. The Griswold database generally only tracks through the female's children, EXCEPT when an Association member has submitted information, or a "Lady Tafel" or there is another connection to a Griswold line (such as your case below where Gideon Moore, a Griswold descendant m. Anna Griswold, another Griswold descendant). That being said our database has the line through Gideon Moore and back through Anna Griswold, but it does not track beyond Tryphena birth. Therefore we do not have daughter Sallie or her marriage to Crawford. This is fairly standard for Family Associations as the task to track each line after a name change would be too overwhelming. >From the Desk of Coralee Griswold Coralee@isat.com Griswold Family Genealogist ____________________________ Thu, 23 Dec 1999 21:50:25 -0800 coralee@isat.com (Coralee Griswold) The following part of your lineage is correct. Reference THE GRISWOLD FAMILY, THE FIRST FIVE GENERATIONS; (Edward #1; Ann #107/233). However, while Margaret was Edward's wife, her maiden name was not Blencow. It remains unknown. 1. I would love any and all information on the GRISWOLD family. I descend through two of Edward GRISWOLD's children: Sarah and Joseph GRISWOLD. I have the following queries: (1) Could someone verify if what I have is correct through the GRISWOLD lines? (2) Could someone provides sources for the information? _______________________________ Posted by: Jesse S. Taylor jstaylor@altavista.net Edward Greswold and Margaret---. Edward was born 1607. He was an attorney for Mr. St. Nicholas of Warwickshire, England and emmigrated to America in 1639. He died in 1691. Edward's grandfather was Henry Greswold and his grandmother was Dorothy James. His father was George (as you know) but I have no name for his mother. My source for Griswold/Greswolde geneology is from Raymond Griswold Taylor (R.G. Taylor b.15 Feb.,1872 Sycamore,Ill.) my paternal great grandfather. I have lineage traced back to John Greswolde of Kenilworth, Warwick Co., England who married Miss Hugford of Slihul ca.1350. Also other branches: Cass, Morton etc. Would love to share.
