Notes for William Martin
Notes on whether father of Valentine, see Valentine Martin. It is
presumed he married Eve, and had the listed children. This is
probably from his second marriage however, considering age of Eve and
the children. CLMJr. 12-12-98

Agree 100 % with what you say---sounds logical. Only trouble is
William, the sibling of Casper, has a different family, supposedly
died before 1850. Casper was supposedly the oldest so if this William
was born in 1767 it would be a different family.

William, sibling of Casper, had a son Jasper but I have nothing on
him. Disregarding dates for William, this Jasper could be the husband
of Eve, parent of Valentine, etc.

I definitely believe there is only one Martin family in the Blenheim
area and they all belong.

Looks like I really have my work cut out. Census records show some of
these Martin families are larger than what I indicate, just can't put
the names I have with parents.

Research
If we look at the website http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyschoha/martin.html, William Martin the progenitor (not this William) came from Scotland about the time of the revolution. He lived in Columbia County and later moved to Schoharie County. He married Marybelle Coventry. They had 11 children: William, Andrew, Casper, George, Robert, John, Margaret, Betsey, Jane, Polly and Elizabeth. Elizabeth married Valentine Efner March 22, 1796.

The 1790 census shows a William Martin in Hudson, Columbia County, New York with 2 males 16 or over, 4 males less than 16, and five females. Although we seem to be missing one male and one female, this seems to be the right family.

No William in Surrogate Court for Schoharie prior to 1879.19
