Notes for Matthew (Spouse 1)
I believe the Matthew Shanahan buried in St. Rose Church cemetery is our Matthew Shanahan. Apparently, he is the only Shanahan listed in the Early Catholic Cemetery Listings. Need to send for death record. Death record not with Cabinet for Health Services, Commonwealth of Kentucky - 3-8-99 Have you tried alternate spellings, namely Shannon? I have Shannons and have seen your spelling suggested as an alternate for this one. The logic seems to be that Shanahan, even when spoken correctly, would sound like Shannon to someone expecting to hear that name, especially if the 'h' was all but silent in the pronunciation. Just a thought. Have a good weekend. Marcy Porter <marcyp@ghg.net>
