Uncle Tip (William Christopher Mudd) stated that "She was a saint."
He explained that he doesn't remember much but she waited on William
Cosmos and took care of him. There was some indication I think that
William Cosmos took advantage of that or wasn't as good to her as she
was to him. I guess I'd have to verify this.

Notes for William Cosmos ("Will") (Spouse 1)
Also given birthdate as 9-27-1834, near Springfield; death record
indicates would have been born in 1836, but believed 9-29-1834
correct, TMF 2nd p. 1675 951a. Per James Clarence Mudd, son, 9-27-
1834. See WC Mudd file. Per William Wallace, son, 9-29-1834. See
WC Mudd file.

The baptisms of all children are recorded at St. Rose Priory near
Springfield, Kentucky. TMF, p. 952 n. 4.

"William Cosmos Mudd was usually dissatisfied with the marriages of
his children. Like many Mudd fathers, he considered that his
children married "beneath them"; but when William Wallace Mudd (ABAGB
CCD) married his cousin Sarah Florence Mudd (ABAGB CDG), William
Cosmos had nothing to say." TMF, p. 952.

"Mary Effie Mudd (ABAGB CDF) wrote that William Cosmos Mudd, her
uncle, was a soldier in the Civil War at the same time as was her
father Dr. Richard E. Mudd (ABAGB CD) and her uncle Sam Mudd (ABAGB
CE). A W.D. Mudd [also W.B. Mudd] (undoubtedly William Cosmos Mudd)
enlisted in the Confederate Army in the 8th Kentucky Cavalry
(formerly 4th Cavalry) at Lexington, KY., on 9-1/10-1862 [See n. 19,
TMF p. 953] and was assigned to Buckner's Guard." TMF, p. 952.

N. 19 "It is said that William Cosmos Mudd and his brother Samuel
Alphonsus Mudd (ABAGB CE) entered the service on the same day, but it
was recorded that the former entered on 9-1-1862 and the latter on 9-
10-1862." TMF, p. 953

Questions to ask: Did he ever talk about the civil war? Was he ever
known by nicknames that would have started with "D" or "B" - where
would W.D. and W.B. come from? See TMF, p. 952, 953 n. 18.
Notes for William Cosmos ("Will") & Alice Louise (Family)
Date of marriage recorded in church is 9-25-1866 also per James , Clarence Mudd and William Wallace, sons. See WC Mudd file. Others , 16 September 1866.

Copies of marriage license and certificate on file. Marriage license , dated September 20, 1866, and the certificate states September 25, so , it appears 25 September1866 is correct.

Witnesses to the marriage were Samuel E. Mudd (ABAGB CE) and Miss , Mary Knott. RDM cites Marr. Bk. (5-30-1851 yo 4-11-1878), p. 92, , Wash. Co. Ky.
